Voices Beyond Silence

Voices Beyond Silence Documentary by Geza Csosz

Voices Beyond Silence provides an intimate portrait of musician and disability advocate Laura Porter. In 2017, Laura’s life was significantly changed by a devastating accident that left her physically disabled and forced her to pause her career. Facing multiple surgeries, ongoing treatments, and the challenges of living with Complex PTSD, Irlen syndrome, Auditory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia, Autism, and self-diagnosed ADHD, she embarked on a difficult journey of resilience and self-discovery. The film features Laura in her own words, reflecting on her life, her struggles, and her evolving relationship with music. Visually, it draws viewers into her creative world, showcasing her work with an extraordinary collection of accessible instruments and interactive music technologies. In 2022, Laura inherited money from her late father, enabling her to realize her vision by investing in inclusive musical tools designed for people of all abilities. Today, she is motivated by a mission to reduce the “othering” of vulnerable and profoundly disabled individuals, creating spaces where communities can come together, learn, and grow through the power of music. Voices Beyond Silence stands as both a moving documentary and a call for change: a celebration of resilience, accessibility, and the unifying power of art.
